2022.01.28 19:14 Ko_3 Data Science or Credit Risk Management Career? Go with passion or perspective?

I was hoping that someone could share hehis opinion with me since I am really unsure what to do. Currently, I am an Economics MSc. student with a heavy focus on statistics. I did an internship in the field of Credit Risk Management in a bank, and I am writing my master thesis in cooperation with that bank, in which I am developing an XAI to detect risk nests using Python. You should know that I love Python and ML. It makes soo much fun.
Now, I have two offers, one from a bank as 'Credit Risk Manager', one from a law firm as a 'Data Scientist'. In general, I would say both offers are equally attractive to me. The bank has a better perspective and is international more active, while the law firm gives you much more freedom (you just have to make their business more efficient, and it's up to you how you achieve that).
The problem with the bank is that they use R instead of Python and did not establish ML systems yet (as expected since risk management is subject to regularizations), which is why I cannot turn my passion into a profession. Nevertheless, I would enhance my R skills, which is also quite cool.
The problem with the law firm is that it is very young and, I mean, it's a law firm, and somehow I associate that negatively.. However, they use Python, and I would be part of the central ML developer team. Besides, strong growth would be really beneficial for me.
Don't get me wrong - I am not complaining. Instead, I am so grateful for these opportunities. Both jobs excite me a lot! Still, as it will be my first job, I want to be sure. A hybrid form would be perfect (ML + Python + Credit Risk Management), but not feasible yet. Any experience/feedback/opinion on that would be much appreciated!!!

2022.01.28 19:14 RobinThomass I'm looking for a budget sound system in France right now...

I have a party tomorrow night and I need a budget sound system.
My needs are too specific for you to help me find the right one but maybe you can help me narrow it down.
I'm looking for something like this :
I'll use it again and ideally I'd love to buy two of them for surround but maybe one will suffice if powerful enough ? I don't know. Anyway, it needs to be around 500€ total.
Any brand I should focus on ? Any advice ?

2022.01.28 19:14 Unusual_Stress_6654 What positions should I apply for?

I have a BS in economics and minor in statistics. 3 years of experience in a customer service role that also involved HR tasks and working with contracts. 3 years of experience as an analyst for a gov agency working with data, drafting guides and handbooks, as well as creating procedures for multiple departments in two separate divisions for new laws. I am proficient in excel (macros, vba) and word, a bit less proficient in access, but currently in a database management court for access and have a year of experience creating access databases and queries. I also have experience with creating dashboards with PowerBI with limited knowledge of DAX. My pay is currently 6.5k/mo.

We have her for 5 years and she has an incredible bond with me (especially), and always sits next to me when I'm home, no matter where. I think either leaving her or taking her away from the house she grew in and the rest of the family will break her heart. Not sure which will break it the least. Obviously I want her with me as well. What do you think?

2022.01.28 19:14 SimpleSeahorse How to find electronics manufacturers?

I am working for a software startup that basically has zero sales team because they are focused on the tech. Only one prospecting is the CEO.
They offer data solutions to manufacturers to clean their data up in Excel and standardize it so they can make better decisions on what's selling and what's not.
Any tips on how to prospect to manufacturers?

2022.01.28 19:14 brechozord Refactoring function

Hello. I've been tasked with refactoring function exchange into another class file, while maintaining the JUnit tests working. Here are my Main class and JUnit tests:

import java.util.*; class Money { private double fAmount; private String fCurrency; public Money(double amount, String currency) { fAmount = amount; fCurrency = currency; } public double amount() { return fAmount; } public String currency() { return fCurrency; } public Money add(Money m) { return new Money(amount() + m.amount(), currency()); } public Money multiplyCurrency(int k) { return new Money(amount() * k, currency()); } public boolean equals(Object Obj) { if (Obj instanceof Money) { Money a = (Money) Obj; return a.currency().equals(currency()) && amount() == a.amount(); } return false; } public Money exchange(String to){ Money result; HashMap rates = new HashMap(); rates.put("PLN", Double.valueOf(1)); rates.put("EUR", Double.valueOf(4.5)); rates.put("USD", Double.valueOf(4)); rates.put("CHF", Double.valueOf(4.5)); Double rate = rates.get(to); if(!currency().equals("PLN")){ Double changeToPln = amount() * rates.get(currency()); result = new Money(changeToPln / rate, to); } else if(currency().equals("PLN") && to.equals("PLN")){ result = new Money(amount(), to); } else{ result = new Money(amount() / rate, to); } return result; } public Money addAnyCurrency(Money m) { return new Money (amount(), currency()); } public boolean compareAnyCurrency(Money m) { if (amount() == && currency() == return true; else return false; } }
And tests:
public class MoneyTest { private Money m12CHF; private Money m14CHF; private Money m3USD; private Money m12PLN; private Money m0CHF; private Money m5EUR; @BeforeEach public void setUp() throws Exception { m12CHF = new Money(12, "CHF"); m14CHF = new Money(14, "CHF"); m3USD = new Money(3, "USD"); m12PLN = new Money(12, "PLN"); m0CHF = new Money(0, "CHF"); m5EUR = new Money(5, "EUR"); } @AfterEach public void tearDown() throws Exception { } @Test public void testSimpleAdd() { Money expected = new Money(26, "CHF"); Money result = m12CHF.add(m14CHF); assertTrue(expected.equals(result)); } @ParameterizedTest @ValueSource(ints = {1, 3, 5, -3, 15, Integer.MAX_VALUE}) public void testMultiply(int value) { Money expected = new Money(36, "CHF"); Money result = m12CHF.multiplyCurrency(3); assertFalse(m12CHF.multiplyCurrency(value).equals(null)); assertTrue(expected.equals(result)); assertEquals(m12CHF, m12CHF.multiplyCurrency(1)); assertEquals(m0CHF, m12CHF.multiplyCurrency(0)); } @Test public void testEquals() { assertFalse(m12CHF.equals(null)); assertEquals(m12CHF, m12CHF); assertEquals(m12CHF, new Money(12, "CHF")); assertFalse(m12CHF.equals(m14CHF)); } @Test public void testExchange() { assertEquals("USD"), m3USD); assertEquals("PLN"), m12PLN); assertFalse("EUR").equals(null)); assertEquals("CHF"), m12CHF); } u/Test public void testAddAny() { Money expected = new Money(17, "EUR"); Money result = m5EUR.addAnyCurrency(m12CHF); assertFalse(result.equals(null)); assertTrue(expected.equals(result)); assertEquals(m12CHF.addAnyCurrency(m0CHF), m12CHF); } @Test public void testCompareAny() { assertFalse(m12CHF.compareAnyCurrency(m12PLN)); assertTrue(m12PLN.compareAnyCurrency(m3USD)); assertFalse(m12CHF.compareAnyCurrency(m14CHF)); } }
I've been trying to just create another class with exchange method but the methods from Main class aren't recognized in newly created class.. Could you help me with this problem?

2022.01.28 19:14 DerAndere3 Pandas DataFrame (Match values in a row and add to this a specific value from another dataframe) [Help]

Exercise: Analyse tennis data
Hello everyone,
I have two DataFrames with data (df_MatchStats and df_PlayerInfo)
I want to add some features from the df_PlayerInfo to the right row in df_MatchStats? How is this possible?
I have in both a column with names and when the name from df_PlayerInfo and df_MatchStats are the same then add to this name a new value for example the height and weight from the player as a new column. If the players doesn't match then add NAN.
Is there an elegant solution for this?

2022.01.28 19:14 Dacey_The_Unwise Mines, What if...

Engineers could build an unlimited amount of mines as long as they have the supplies. 20-25 supplies required for AP and 75 for AT mines. We could actually have to worry about minefields. Engineers could place minefields around artillery to lower successful assassinations and prevent spawn killings. Offensive engineers could be given an ability to spot mines at 2-3 meter distance, a second satchel charge, or more rewarding nodes.
